company profiles:
With the help of 66 cross-linked, unique and complex global constellations of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites, the Iridium satellite network is able to provide high-quality sound and data connections on the entire surface of the earth, including aviation, oceans and polar regions. . Through close cooperation with its partner companies in the ecosystem, Iridium provides innovative, extremely reliable and broad solutions for market customers who really need global communications.
In early 2019, Iridium completed the constellation upgrade, replaced all satellites, and upgraded the supporting ground infrastructure. This makes possible the launch of Iridium Certus®, a new multi-service platform that provides professional broadband services, and will soon launch mid-bandwidth services.
Compared with geostationary satellites, the Iridium orbital network, which is only 780 kilometers away from the earth, means too many advantages: complete coverage from the North Pole to the South Pole, shorter transmission paths, stronger signals, lower delays and more Short registration time. In space, each Iridium satellite is connected to up to four other satellites to form a dynamic network, which enables communication traffic to be relayed between the satellites, ensuring complete global coverage. Especially in those places where there is no local network, the powerful advantages of the Iridium network are more prominent.
Iridium Certus® is a new technology platform launched by Iridium in January 2019, providing broadband services for the maritime and land mobile industries for the first time. The service can flexibly adjust device speed, size and power requirements according to the needs of end users. With the help of the second-generation Iridium constellation, the Iridium Certus service is more than just a connectivity solution. It provides partners with a platform on which only the L-band network cross-linked by Iridium can develop their dedicated broadband, medium bandwidth and narrowband applications.
Iridium Satellite LLC
Powered by a uniquely sophisticated global constellation of 66 cross-linked Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, the Iridium® network provides high-quality voice and data connections over the planet's entire surface, including across airways, oceans, and polar regions. Together with its ecosystem of partner companies, Iridium delivers an innovative and rich portfolio of reliable solutions for markets that require truly global communications.
Iridium completed a constellation upgrade in early 2019, replacing all its satellites and upgrading the supporting ground infrastructure. This enabled the launch of Iridium Certus®, a new multi-service platform delivering specialty broadband services, with additional midband services coming soon.
